Golden Globe 2016 Best and Worst dresses
I’m back! First of all, I would like to wish you a wonderful New Year. May your year be bright and filled with love!
What a better way to start the year than with a very glamorous red carpet. Last night, the award season officially started with the 73rd Golden Globe Awards ceremony, honoring the best in film and television for 2015. But film and television are not the only focuses, fashion is too. Stars of both the big and small screen have put on their best dresses in a bid to outshine each other on the red carpet. Who got it right and who got it wrong?
Here’s URBAN FROUFROU’s Golden Globe 2016 best and worst dresses. Let the excitement begin!
1. Joanne Froggatt in Reem Acra
I love everything about this dress: its colour, its heart-shaped bodice, its plunging neckline, its clinched waist. Joanne Froggatt looked sensational and her gown was close to perfection.
2. Jennifer Lopez in Giambattista Valli
I’m usually not a fan of Jennifer Lopez’s style. She’s a little too “ghetto” to me. If last year she was part of my worst dressed list, this year Jenny from the block definitely won my heart in a very flattering yellow canary frock featuring a built-in cape. She was still a little “ghetto” with all the bling going on. FYI: she was wearing 200 carats of Harry Winston diamonds including two necklaces, earrings, bracelet and rings. Anyhow, I loved her hair and the perfect red lipstick that gave her a glamorous Hollywood star attitude.
3. Olivia Palermo in Delpozo
I’m in love with Olivia’s dress. Simple, colourful and elegant. Besides, I like how the fashionista and It-girl managed to add some sparkle with a gold leaf choker necklace. For sure, it was a head-turning style moment.
4. Laverne Cox in Elizabeth Kennedy
The Orange is the New Black star had such a romantic attitude in a virgin white gown. I really fancied the emerald Lorraine Schwartz jewelry, and the Nathalie Trad clutch. So chic!
5. Alicia Vikander in Louis Vuitton
How cute is the 27-year-old actress in this chic and delicate pleated Louis Vuitton column dress featuring cross strap detail? She looked so fresh and adorable. Simply stunning!
Jaimie Alexander in Genny
Felicity Huffman in Lorena Sarbu
Viola Davis in Marchesa
Eva Longoria in Georges Hobeika
Kate Hudson in Michael Kors Collection
1. Cate Blanchett in Givenchy
What happened to you Kate? I mean, I just can’t believe Australian actress known for a great sense of style made such a fashion faux-pas. Fringes and detailed patterns are over the top, although I did appreciate the fact that she tried something out of her comfort zone.
2. Rooney Mara and Amanda Peet both in Alexander Mcqueen
Poor Rooney and Amanda who showed up wearing almost the same gown! They both looked messy.
3. Jane Fonda in Yves Saint-Laurent Couture
Ok, what’s with all the ruffles of Jane Fonda’s dress? I’m still wondering.
4. Kate Bosworth in Dolce & Gabbana
“Shine bright like a sequin”! Am I the only one thinking that strapless pink dress had too many sequins?
5. Maggie Gyllenhaal in Marc Jacobs
Again, too many sequins here!
